Today the footings are being formed, inspected, and poured. The concrete work is done by Lee Rocca Forming Ltd out of Oakville.
The crew started the work late around 11:15AM because in typical Toronto style they are stuck in traffic on the QEW. I’ve scheduled the inspection with the inspector for 2pm and I wasn’t sure if they can make it on time. But the 5 men crew is very efficient, by 1:30pm, the form is done, and rebars are all placed.
The inspector came early at around 1:15pm. He’s happy with the work and so we are cleared to pour the concrete.
The concrete truck came around 2:45pm.
The concrete pump on the truck wasn’t long enough to reach the end of the house. So the very back of the house has to be done manually by filling in the wheelbarrow and dump it in the form.
But once the very back of the house is completed, the rest can be done by the concrete pump. Here’s a short video of the concrete being poured.
At the same time, there’s another two truck with forms ready to be unloaded for forming the foundation walls. The crew will be working on that tomorrow.
At the end of the day, they completed the footing, and unloaded the forms for the walls.
Here’s the footing for my concrete stairs in the front.
And here’s another view of the forms for the foundation walls.
Here’s a time-lapse sequence for the forming and pouring of the footing.
