It has been over 2.5 month since I have applied for new water and sewer connection from the City. They’ve taken the money yet I’m faced with delay after delay. So I decided to call in my plumber at AV Mechanical to lay the water service line on my private side so that I can pour the concrete floor in my basement.
Last week on July 18th, the last locate for the water / sewer service is performed and they marked up the natural gas service line. Now the city contractor should have all the locate they need and I am waiting for them to schedule a call to confirm schedule when they are going to come and do the new water / sewer connection.
Angelo Verardi and his crew dug a trench and laid 1 inch water service line from within my basement to the property line. Ready for hookup once the city lays the new water service line on their side.
The water service line is buried 5ft below ground. They they left a stick where the line terminates.
This is what the inside of the basement looks like with the new water service line coming up right beside the sump pump.
While the plumbers are here, I’ve also asked them to hook up some temporary drainage pipes for my roof drain so that the water from all these rain can go outside of the house properly. The temporary drainage that I set up is not working so well because these soil pipes leaks so I still get a lot of water inside the house when it rains. I needed something that’s really water tight.
The temporary pipe is hung just beneath the ceiling and goes all the way through the 2rd floor sliding door and outside of the house.
Hopefully with this in place, water will no longer be coming into the house with every rain that falls.
