May 4th, 2015Continue to put up the plastic sheet needed to hold the Roxual Safe’n’Sound in place all around the interior wall. We are only putting the plastic sheet on a single side to avoid trapping moisture inside the wall. Here’s the first floor powder room.

For the computer room because it will maintain a lower temperature, we decided to use Roxual R22 insulation on the interior walls around the computer room.
April 8th, 2015Finishing up the vapour barriers. Here on the first floor the bottom sections are all completed.
March 19th, 2015Now we are finishing up all the vapour barriers. We are using CertainTeed MemBrain which adapt its permeability depending on the climatic conditions. This is to avoid trapped moisture inside the wall which can happen if you use traditional 6 mil polyethylene vapour barrier.
February 12th, 2015Finishing up the batt insulation today. Here is the roof above the open to below area all completed.
February 8th, 2015Building science taught us that air sealing of the house is more important than raw insulation value. While the spray foam seals the space from stud to stud, there’s still the gap between the studs that needs to be sealed. Here’s an example in the bathroom there the gap between the studs are now sealed with caulking. Also the gap between the bottom plate and the sub-floor is also sealed with caulking.
February 4th, 2015More batt insulation installation on the 2nd floor. Finally finished the south wall in the bathroom. So the bathroom is now completed.
